The Peloponnese is the largest peninsula in Greece, with an ancient culture, a mountainous landscape, many traditional villages, and the almost constant scent of the sea. A premium gastronomic region with cozy terraces and sunny beaches, and not yet overly touristy.

We have organized an active photography tour for you with plenty of photo opportunities, guided by our photographer.

For beginners and advanced photographers

This trip is suitable for the enthusiastic amateur photographer, both for beginners as well as advanced. Due to the small scale of our trips, the photografic coaching is tailored to everyone’s individual knowledge and experience.

We focus on the technique of photographing, but also on observation, on composition and on visualising what you want to show your audience. After all, photography is a means of telling a story.

Short Overview of the Program

During this unique photography tour, we explore the rich history, breathtaking nature, and picturesque villages of the Peloponnese, a paradise for every photographer. After arriving in Kalamata, we start with a coffee stop by the sea, where the morning sun makes the crystal-clear waters sparkle. We then travel through the majestic Taygetos mountain pass, with its rugged peaks and photogenic panoramas, on our way to Sparta.

The next day offers a wealth of photographic opportunities in the Byzantine ruins of Mystras, where the play of light and shadow brings the weathered stones to life. In Dimitsana, a mountain village with deep historical roots, we capture the authentic atmosphere of traditional architecture and the surrounding nature. The hanging monastery of Prodromou provides breathtaking views, while the archaeological treasures of Mycenae, such as the iconic Lion Gate, exude timeless grandeur. We end the day in Nafplio, where the atmospheric streets and neoclassical buildings are perfect for evening photography.

Our journey continues to Platanos, a serene mountain village, and Leonidio, where elegant mansions form a perfect contrast with the surrounding mountains. At the monastery of Elonas, spectacularly built against a steep cliff, and in the charming village of Kosmas, we find endless opportunities to capture both architecture and nature. In Monemvasia, time seems to stand still; the cobblestone streets and medieval ambiance make this a dream location for photographers.

After a relaxing morning in Monemvasia, ideal for capturing the morning light, we head to Gythio, a picturesque harbor town with colorful houses and traditional fishing boats that offer stunning compositions. The journey concludes in the rugged Mani region, where the stone tower houses and abandoned villages hold a mystical beauty. Here, we can play with unique textures and dramatic landscapes.

Returning to Kalamata, we bid farewell to a tour full of unforgettable photography, from golden sunsets to hidden details in ancient villages. This Peloponnese tour offers endless inspiration for every photographer.

Various Types of Photography

At the locations mentioned, we will work on various photographic disciplines (landscape photography, travel photography, architectural photography, and street photography), and we will also stop frequently to capture anything interesting along the way.

You will take photos based on assignments or work freely in your own way – nothing is mandatory, and much is possible. For those interested, we regularly discuss the photos so we can inspire and learn from each other.

Accommodation and Transport

We stay in lovely hotels along the way, eat authentic Greek meals in local tavernas, and travel by minibus.

Day 1 - Kalamata - Tayetos - Sparta »
Upon arrival at Kalamata airport, we start our photography tour with a relaxed coffee stop on the beautiful beach of Kalamata. This is the perfect opportunity to experiment with compositions and capture the soft light playing on the crystal-clear water and coastline. It’s also an ideal moment to get to know each other and discuss our photography goals for the trip.

We then travel eastward through the majestic Taygetos mountain pass, a dream location for landscape photography. The rugged mountains, deep valleys, and dramatic vistas offer endless opportunities to capture the beauty of nature. Along the way, we enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by photogenic panoramas that invite you to focus on the details of the landscape.

At the end of the day, we arrive at our accommodation near historic Sparta. Here you can enjoy the soft evening light and capture the tranquil atmosphere, a perfect conclusion to the first day of our inspiring photography tour.
Day 2 - Sparta - Mystras - Dimitsana »
We start the day with a visit to the impressive ruins and ancient monastery of Mystras, a jewel of the Byzantine era. The weathered stone walls, atmospheric gates, and views through these historic streets provide a wealth of photographic opportunities. From sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding valleys to the fine details of Byzantine architecture and the interplay of light and shadow in the historical alleys, Mystras is a dream location for photographers.

Next, we travel to the picturesque mountain village of Dimitsana, steeped in history and authenticity. The narrow streets, traditional houses, and surrounding mountain landscape create a beautiful backdrop to capture the essence of the village. Dimitsana also offers unique opportunities to tell stories through your photography, such as capturing the locations where the Greek War of Independence began – a historical moment that left a deep impression.

We end the day with a delightful dinner and overnight stay in Dimitsana, where you can experiment with evening photography in the serene, historical ambiance of this charming village.
Day 3 - Dimitsana – Prodromou Monestery – Mycene - Nafplio »
It’s almost unbelievable how the monks managed to build this monastery in such a spectacular location. The picturesque walk to the monastery, along a narrow path about a kilometer long, offers countless opportunities to capture the natural surroundings and the dramatic setting of the monastery. Upon arrival, you are rewarded with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains and valleys – a perfect place for panoramic photography and capturing the harmony of architecture and nature.

We then visit Mycenae, a place steeped in history and a treasure trove for photographers. The imposing ‘Cyclopean’ walls, the iconic Lion Gate, and the tholos tomb of Agamemnon are not only fascinating archaeological finds but also perfect subjects to explore texture, light, and shadow in your photos. The combination of history and impressive structures makes Mycenae a must-see for any photographer.

We finish the day in Nafplio, a city full of romance and charm, ideal for evening photography. The picturesque streets, elegant neoclassical buildings, and atmospheric squares bathe in warm evening light and provide an ideal setting to capture the ambiance of the old city. After a delightful dinner, we enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in this visually inspiring environment.
Day 4 - Platanos - Leonidio »
After a cozy morning coffee in charming Nafplio, we begin our day with a drive to the Parnon mountains, a region full of photographic surprises. Our first destination is Platanos, a picturesque village that is perfect for capturing authentic details. During a relaxed walk through the atmospheric streets, you’ll discover the unique character of the village, with highlights such as the remnants of an ingenious system of channels and watermills. These historic structures, surrounded by natural elements, provide an excellent opportunity to explore textures and compositions.

After a delicious lunch, we continue our journey via a winding route that offers breathtaking views of the coastline. This is an ideal chance to capture landscapes and the dynamic terrain of the mountains. We then reach Leonidio, a town whose walled mansions and elegant atmosphere create a stunning backdrop for evening photography. The combination of stately architecture and surrounding nature provides unique contrasts and a warm, timeless aesthetic.

Our overnight stay is in one of these historic buildings, where the serene ambiance and rich history of the area offer an inspiring conclusion to the day.
Day 5 - Leonidio – Elonas – Kosmas - Monemvasia »
Our journey takes us to the impressive monastery of Elonas, spectacularly located against a steep cliff. The breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valleys provides a perfect setting for landscape photography, while the monastery itself offers a unique opportunity to capture the harmony between architecture and nature. The interplay of light and shadow on the steep cliffs makes this a special location for photography.

Next, we visit the picturesque village of Kosmas, surrounded by lush nature with plane trees and majestic greenery. The rustic charm and authentic atmosphere of this mountain village are ideal for capturing intimate details and serene scenes. Whether focusing on the village’s architecture or its natural surroundings, Kosmas provides endless inspiration.

We then travel southeast to reach the medieval fortress town of Monemvasia, a dream location for photographers. This former fortified island, now connected to the mainland by a causeway, has been meticulously restored to its Byzantine glory. The narrow cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and unique location on the Aegean Sea make this an ideal place to capture the timeless ambiance of the past. At sunset, the city comes alive in warm light, making Monemvasia a perfect setting to experiment with evening photography.
Day 6 - Monemvasia - Gythio »
We spend the morning in the enchanting Monemvasia, a paradise for photographers. This town, with its traditional stone houses, narrow cobblestone streets, archways, and winding staircases, offers endless opportunities to capture the medieval atmosphere. Whether photographing the views through ancient alleyways, the warm tones of the stone facades, or the light falling through narrow streets, Monemvasia inspires at every turn. Enjoy the cozy terraces and tavernas, which provide a perfect background for atmospheric photography.

After a relaxed lunch, we continue our journey to Gythio, a picturesque harbor town at the foot of the imposing Taygetos mountains. The colorful houses along the waterfront, traditional fishing boats, and the tranquil harbor atmosphere offer stunning opportunities for compositions and capturing local life. We end the day with dinner and an overnight stay in Gythio, where the evening sun and soft light allow for unique photographic creations.
Day 7 - Gythio - Vathia - Kalamata »
On our round trip through the rugged landscape of Mani, we discover an area perfectly suited for photographers who love dramatic and unspoiled settings. The landscape, characterized by barren mountains and isolated valleys, provides an overwhelming backdrop for striking landscape photos. The distinctive stone tower houses, once fortified strongholds, tell a unique story that you can capture through your lens. The texture of the weathered stones and the atmosphere of abandonment add a special dimension to your photography.

Our visit to the almost deserted village of Vathi gives you the chance to photograph the typical architecture and the silence of this area. The narrow streets and traditional buildings form a fascinating contrast to the surrounding landscape, making it a perfect location for compositions that combine history and nature.

After an inspiring day in this authentic and sparsely populated area, we continue our way to Kalamata. The drive offers more opportunities to capture the rugged beauty of Mani, an unforgettable experience for any photographer.
Day 8 - Departure from Kalamata Airport »
After one last look at the beautiful landscape that has inspired us over the past days, we take the short drive to Kalamata airport. Here we bid farewell to a journey full of special moments and visual highlights. The unique locations we have captured, the stories we have heard, and the beauty we have experienced through our lenses remain lasting memories. This adventure has not only enriched our photography but also filled our hearts with the magic of Greece.
